The ancient market town of Penzance is the Capital of the far west of Cornwall. It is a popular tourist destination, and features an attractive promenade on its sea front. There are several historic houses in the town, along with a number of museums, antique shops and galleries.
Ferry services operate from Penzance harbour to the Isles of Scilly.
In a sheltered position close to the sea, Penzance enjoys the most temperate climate of the British Isles and you will find superb gardens such as those at Trengwainton with its sub-tropical flowers and palm trees.
There are several celebrations throughout the year, one of them being the Golowan Festival of music, dance, street markets and more, lasting for 12 days.
